Tina Munim

- Vikram Chandiramani

Discovered by Dev Anand, the same man who found Zeenat Aman, Tina Munim made her screen debut in Navketan's 'Desh Pardes' (1978). Her USP was an urban innocence which was underlined whenever she widened her eyes and whispered a line. She was just perfect as Pygmalion in 'Man Pasand' an Indianised 'My Fair Lady', but flew away from the nest to do varied films with different film makers. From Basu Chatterji's 'Baton Baton Mein', where she played a Christian girl, to Subhash Ghai's 'Karz' in which she was an innocent 'Solva Baras Ki Ladki' Tina won the hearts of the audience. Her interesting roles include a bold role in 'Kaamagni' and she even played a character with negative shades in 'Aakhir Kyon?'.

She came to be known as Sanjay Dutt's anchor during his drug phase, but when he repeatedly failed to kick the habit, she strayed towards Rajesh Khanna as they co-starred in 'Souten' (Chai Pe Bulaya Hai) and 'Fifty Fifty'. Rajesh and Tina shocked the public by announcing that they were so much in love that they even shared a toothbrush! However, their affair ended and Tina was lucky to find herself married to Anil Ambani! As daughter-in-law of the Ambanis she now promotes art, sponsoring an annual art exhibition
