Whenever you spend money on a ICICI credit card, be sure to pay off the balance outstanding at the end of the month. You do have the option of paying only the minimum amount. If you exercise this option, the amount you owe ICICI will be rolled over to next month and interest will be charged on the outstanding amount.
RBI guidelines mandate that credit card companies display terms and conditions on their website. ICICI too has terms and conditions displayed on their website in various languages including Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada,
Malayalam, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu apart from English of course.
If you take a cash advance on your credit card, you'll be charged a 2.5 % fee subject to a minimum of Rs.300. Their dial-a-draft service will cost you 3 % of the draft value subject to a minimum of Rs.300. If you pay the amount due later, you'll be charged 30 % of the 'minimum amount due'. The 'minimum' amount due' is usually 5% of the total oustanding. This late fee will be a minimum of Rs. 400 & max Rs. 600. If you exceed your credit limit, you'll be charged 2.5% on the over limit amount, subject to a min. of Rs. 500. If you issue ICICI a cheque to cover your dues and the cheque bounces, you'll be charged Rs.250.
Credit cards are safe, like a 2000 cc automobile is safe in the garage, it's also safe when you go for a drive, usually but rev it it's engine and max out its power and you could be in trouble. To take the analogy further, don't max out your credit cards and don't abuse them.
