The Centre is considering a proposal to set up a Grape and Wine Board. Prominent grape producing states such as Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Maharashtra and Uttaranchal have been consulted and they have supported the move.

Under the scheme for technology upgradation and modernization of the food processing sector, the Ministry of Food Processing Industries offers financial aid for setting up food processing units including wine making units. The assistance is released in the form of grant of 25% of the cost of plant and machinery and technical civil works subject to a maximum of Rs. 50 lakh in general areas and 33.33% with a ceiling of Rs.75 lakh in difficult areas. Likewise, under the Scheme for Infrastructure Development, assistance upto Rs. 4 crore is given for setting up food and wine parks and for provision of infrastructure like cold storage, food testing laboratory, effluent treatment plant, common processing facilities, power and water supply to help small and medium enterprises set up their own units.
