Eight persons convicted in a fodder scam case of Ranchi

The Special Judge, CBI (AHD cases), Ranchi, Shri A.K.Choudhary, today convicted eight accused in a fodder scam case. The length of imprisonment would be decided and pronounced by the judge tomorrow after hearing the parties on the point of sentence.

This is the seventh AHD scam case which has been disposed off from trial (six disposed off from Ranchi and one from Lucknow) and all the seven have ended in conviction. The convicted persons are: (i) Dr.Erick Kerketta, former District Animal Husbandry Officer ( DAHO), Daltonganj, Palamu, (ii) Dr.Prabhat Kumar Sinha, the then Touring Veterinary Officer (Mobile), Daltonganj, Palamu (iii) Braj Bhushan Prasad, the then Budget and Accounts Officer, AHD Directorate, Patna, (iv) Dharamdeo Prasad, the then Treasury Officer, Daltonganj, Palamu, (v) Chandradeo Mahto, the then Accountant, Palamu Treasury Palamu (vi) Bipin Bihar Ram, the then Treasury Assistant, Palamu Treasury, Palamu, (vii) Tripurari Mohan Prasad, Prop.of M/S Bihar Surgico Medico Agency, Patna and (viii) Sushil Kumar, Prop. of M/S Samarpan Veterinary Enterprises, Patna.

This case was registered on 25.1.2001 on the allegation that the accused AHD officials in conspiracy with unscrupulous suppliers, Treasury officials withdrew an amount of Rs.4.08 lacs from the state exchequer of erstwhile state of Bihar on the strength of forged and fabricated budget allotment letters and supply orders and eventually misappropriated the amount. The suppliers submitted the bills either without supplying any materials or received full payments by effecting partial supply.

In this case, CBI had laid chargesheet against nine persons. One accused Samiram Roy, the then Accountant, DAHO, Daltonganj, Palamu died during the trial abating the case against him.
