Delhi Police Official convicted for accepting bribe

The Special Judge, Delhi has convicted Sh. Dharamvir, Sub-Inspector of Delhi Police for demanding Rs. 5,000/- and accepting a bribe of Rs. 3,000/- from the complainant.

The CBI investigation revealed that the accused Sub-Inspector had abused his official position while serving in Police Station Vikaspuri, New Delhi and demanded a bribe of Rs. 5,000/- from the complainant. The accused threatened the complainant to implicate him in theft case of vehicle which was stolen by someone and the said vehicle was being driven by the complainant as Driver if bribe was not paid. In furtherance of his demand, the accused accepted Rs. 3,000/- as bribe through his co-accused Om Prakash (since expired) on the day of trap. The co-accused concealed the bribe amount in the toilet from where the bribe money was recovered on the disclosure of Sh. Om Prakash.

The designated court, Delhi held the accused guilty for the offence and convicted him yesterday. The case was fixed for pronouncing the sentence on 5.9.2005.
