CBI arrests Income Tax Officer and two Bank Officials for bribe

The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested an Income-Tax officer posted at Bijnor (U.P.) for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs. 5,000/- from the complainant.

The complainant, a MBBS Doctor filed a complaint with CBI alleging that the accused had demanded a bribe of Rs. 5,000/- from him for passing his income tax return for the financial year 2003-2004. CBI laid a trap and the accused was caught red-handed yesterday while demanding and accepting Rs. 5,000/- from the complainant.

In another case, CBI arrested a Branch Manager and a Manager, Central Bank of India. Bareli Branch (M.P.) for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs. 5,000/- from the complainant for enhancing the limit of his Kisan Credit Card from Rs. One Lakh to Rs. Two lakh. The accused Branch Manager asked the complainant to hand over the bribe amount of Rs. 5,000/- to the other accused, a Manager of the bank who was also present in the branch. The Manager was caught red-handed while accepting bribe of Rs. 5,000/- in the branch from the complainant. Both the accused were taken into custody.
