CBI arrests a kidnapper

The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a kidnapper Satyabir Singh at Jhunjhunu (Rajasthan) and traced the kidnapped girl Punam. The case was earlier registered by Rajasthan Police on a complaint lodged by the father of kidnapped girl. Seeing no results, the helpless father knocked at the doors of the High Court of Rajasthan by filling a writ petition, wherein he prayed for transfer of investigation of the case to CBI.

CBI took up investigation of the case from Rajasthan Police on 30th June, 2004 on the orders of Rajasthan High Court. CBI investigation revealed that Kumari Poonam was kidnapped by accused Satyabir Singh from Village Berla, Tehsil Chidawa, Distt. Jhunjhunu (Rajasthan) on the night intervening 13-14 August, 2003. CBI sent special teams to different States like Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Karnataka, Maharastra and Assam to trace the girl and her kidnapper. Finally the CBI could succeed in tracing the kidnapped girl and accused Satyabir Singh was arrested. The accused was produced before the Addl. Chief Judicial Magistrate for CBI cases, Jaipur (Rajasthan) and remanded to four days CBI custody.
