The total production of Aluminium metal in the country during the period April-July of this fiscal has been estimated at 2,99,958 tonnes as against 2,52,492 tonnes during the same period last year. Out of this, the public sector National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) produced 1,17,141 tonnes and Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO) with 49 per cent Central Government equity 33,590 tonnes. The private sector Hindalco Industries Limited (HINDALCO) produced 1,36,816 tonnes and Madras Aluminium Company Limited (MALCO) 12,411 tonnes.
In July 2005, the total production of Aluminium in the country was 72,317 tonnes, out of which NALCO produced 29,677 tonnes, BALCO 8,866 tonnes, HINDALCO 30,735 tonnes and MALCO 3,039 tonnes. NALCO, during the month sold 65,245 tonnes of Alumina Hydrate and exported 5,352 tonnes of Aluminium.
