Shri Ram Vilas Paswan, Union Minister for Steel & Chemicals and Fertilizers has asserted that Hindi was our national language and provisions of the Official Language Act must be complied with to promote and popularise the language at official level. Presiding over the concluding function on the celebration of Hindi Fortnight by the Ministry of Steel here today, he said that there was need to use simple and understandable Hindi. Expressing concern over declining use of Hindi as a language , he said in order to promote the language, the younger generation should be encouraged to use it in their educational and professional pursuits. He said that Hindi was the backbone of India and deserved its proper place in the society as well as at the Government level.
The Minister honoured a large number of officials of the Ministry of Steel for their contribution towards promotion of Hindi language. The Steel Secretary Ms. Binoo Sen also spoke on the occasion.
