The Railways have developed in-house fixture for inside welding of bogie frames using IGM Robot to overcome manual welding. This will have long term benefits in improving quality of welding.
The Rail Coach Factory (RCF), Kapurthala, machined in-house top surface of bed of 320 tonne Press Brake, which had worn out and developed inaccuracies, achieving desired accuracy. The endeavour saved the RCF a sum of Rs.75000.
A standard gauge bogie frame in the FIAT format was designed and validated for developing export potential. One such standard gauge bogie frame was manufactured and sent to Research, Design and Standards Organization (RDSO), where it has passed fatigue testing successfully.
