Under the Progress of Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme (TUFS) – upto end of July 04, a total of 3292 applications for loans amounting to Rs.11843.87 crores (against a total project cost of Rs. 21074.65 crores) were received. Out of this, a total of Rs.8167.35 crores were sanctioned and Rs.5605.37 crores disbursed.
As regards the schemes progress in the Power loom sector during the same period – a total of 336 applications were received for a loan amount of Rs. 167.79 crores (as against a project cost of Rs. 259.40 crores) out of which an amount of Rs.157.09 crores were sanctioned and Rs. 81.53 crores disbursed.
The Scheme is for stepping up the process of modernization and technology upgradation of the textiles in India.
