Ms Parveen Talha, former Director General, National Academy of Customs, Excise and Narcotics, Faridabad, took the oath of office and secrecy as Member, Union Public Service Commission today. The oath was administered by Shri Mata Prasad, Chairman, UPSC.
Ms. Talha belongs to the 1969 batch of the Indian Customs and Central Excise Service. She had held many important positions and has been closely involved with tax reforms and the liberalisation policy of the Government.
Born on the 4th of October, 1944, Ms Talha completed her post graduation in Economics from Lucknow University. She was the first Muslim woman in India to join the Group A of Civil Service.
A multi-faceted personality, Ms. Talha is a well known short story writer with several published works to her credit.
