The national conference on Agriculture for Rabi Campaign, 2004-05 begins here tomorrow. The two day Conference will be inaugurated by the Secretary, Agriculture and Co-operation, Smt. Radha Singh. The Conference is an important forum for discussing the performance of the agriculture sector and for finalizing ways to increase agricultural production and productivity in the ensuing season. Recent developments in agricultural technology and new schemes and programmes being launched will also come up for discussion during the Conference. The topics for discussion include input supply position, National Horticulture Mission, micro irrigation, Bamboo Plantation Mission, market infrastructure/extension and Nutrient Management Protocol in Rapeseed/Mustard. Trade, quarantine, credit, cooperation and insurance issues will also be discussed.
The Conference will be attended by State Agriculture and Horticulture Secretaries, Vice Chancellors of Agricultural Universities and Heads of Indian Council of Agricultural Research institutes. Senior officers from various Departments including Rural Development, Water Resources, Food, Fertilizers, Planning Commission, RBI and NABARD will also attend the Conference.
