The recently set up National Commission on Macroeconomics & Health has sought the views of people on the existing health system in the country as also suggestions for improvement in the future. For eliciting such views, the NCMH has launched a website www.ncmhindia.org. Views can also be sent by post at the following address:-
National Commission on Macroeconomics & Health, CGHS Building, 3rd Floor, Sector 12, R.K. Puram, New Delhi-110022.
The Commission which is co-chaired by the Union Finance and Health and Family Welfare Ministers has been set up with the objective of making evidence based arguments for increased investment in health. The core concern is to establish the linkages between economic growth, poverty and health.
The Terms of Reference of the Commission center around improving the overall health status of the people particularly the poor, by ensuring a universal access to a package of essential health interventions. Such an exercise necessarily involves a close evaluation of the current system of health care existing in the country.
