A group of five teachers and 34 Ladakhi students from Army Goodwill School, Karu who are presently on a 17 day tour to the plains of India called on the Defence Minister Shri Pranab Mukherjee today. The Defence Minister had informal interactions with them.
Talking to the Ladakhi children, the Minister said India is a country that is a potpourri of multiethnic, multilingual, multicultural and multireligious people whose unifying ingredient is the essence of unity in diversity. He termed Operation Sadhbhavna as an innovating and imaginative programme, serving a great purpose of national integration. All of us share a common heritage, he said.
The aim of this tour is to give children of remote region of a feel of life in mainland India, and also to expose them to the educational avenues and developmental activities. The tour has been organized by the Trishul Division of the Indian Army under Operation Sadbhavna.
