The movement of the terrorists was detected by electronic sensors in the very early hours of 23 Sep 04 ahead of the border fencing. The troops laid a deliberate cordon to trap all the terrorists inside. During the ensuing firefight, four terrorists were killed by mid day on 23 Sep 04. On subsequent search of the area, one more terrorist was killed on 24 Sep 04 morning.

Four AK rifles, one pistol, 12 hand grenades, one radio set, one UBGL with 13 grenades and 1.2 lakhs in Indian currency have been recovered from the infiltrating group.

The border fencing and elaborate surveillance grid established along the LoC has significantly upgraded the Army's ability to foil infiltration bids by terrorists.
