hindi symbolizes essence of indianhood : shekhawat

The Vice President of India, Shri Bhairon Singh Shekhawat has said that Hindi is not merely a language but it symbolizes a very essence of Indianhood. Releasing a book entitled “Paanch Peedhiyon Ki Hindi Sewa” here today, Shri Shekhawat underlined that it was Swami Dayanand Saraswati who described Hindi as a language of Indian culture. He said that Mahatma Gandhi used Hindi to unite the whole of the country for struggle against the foreign rule and Chakravarty Rajagopalachary advocated the use of Hindi in our day-to-day life.

Shri Shekhawat emphasized the need to promote Hindi and for this it is necessary that good literature is available to masses on affordable prices. He called upon the media and Hindi scholars to popularize Hindi by bringing out better programmes and magazines of higher standards with popular appeal and meeting the aspirations of the common man.

Shri B.K. Chaturvedi, Cabinet Secretary, Shri Rajendra Awasthy, noted Hindi writer and a number of scholars addressed the gathering.

The book “Paanch Peedhiyon Ki Hindi Sewa” is a compilation of the writing of about 28 persons belonging to Chaturvedi family of Kamtari village in Uttar Pradesh.
