Shri H. Prabhakar Rao, a 1969 batch Indian Civil Accounts Service Officer, has assumed the charge of Controller General of Accounts in the Ministry of Finance on September 17, 2004. Shri Rao has wide experience in the areas of budgeting, finance and accounts and has worked in various Ministries of the Government of India including the Central Board of Excise and Customs, Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Steel and Mines etc. He has also worked on deputation assignments in the Department of Posts, Ministry of Water Resources and Ministry of Mines. Shri Rao also has held international assignments under the International Monetary Fund as Budget Adviser in the Palestinian Autonomy, Gaza and in the Ministry of Finance, Lusaka, Zambia.
