The Drug Policies announced by the Government from time to time have helped in meeting the requirement of medicines in catering to the health needs of the people. The Government in its National Common Minimum Programme has envisaged taking all steps to ensure availability of life saving drugs at reasonable prices.

Shri Ram Vilas Paswan , Minister for Chemicals , Fertilisers and Steel will interact with Drug Manufacturers tomorrow under the auspices of National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority to find appropriate ways and means to overcome the problems in this sector. The Interactive Session will focus on high trade margins in some drugs, display of ex-factory price on the medicine label, whether Maximum Retail Price (MRP) can be inclusive of local levies, and principles governing bulk drugs and medicines that should be brought or retained under price control.

The interactive session will be followed by a Press Conference.
