The Finance Minister, Shri P. Chidambaram, leaves for Washington D.C., tomorrow to attend Annual Meetings of World Bank and International Monetary Fund including meetings of the International Monetary and Financial Committee and the Development Committee on October 2nd and 3rd, 2004. He will also participate in Ministers meeting of G24 on October 1st, 2004.
Issues relating to global economy, financing of Millennium Development Goals, investment climate and infrastructure development and voice and participation of developing and transition countries are likely to be discussed.
During his visit to USA, Finance Minister will also be having bilateral meetings with Finance Ministers of USA, Germany, France, Brazil, Israel, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Bhutan.
Shri Chidambaram is also scheduled to participate in India Investment Forum in New York on October 6th, 2004 and in an Investment Meet in London on October 8th, 2004. In these meetings, Finance Minister would be meeting CEOs of US and European Companies, Foreign Institutional Investors and Private Equity Investors.
