The Ministry of Railways has issued a Notification appointing stating that S/Shri K. Balakesari, a retired Member Staff Railway Board as Mechanical Engineering Expert, S.K. Khanna, a retired Member Electrical Railway Board as Electrical Engineering Expert and S.K. Dheri, a retired Chief Fire Officer Delhi Fire Services as Fire Services Expert to assist the High Level One Man Committee headed by Shri Justice U.C. Banerjee, a retired Judge of the Supreme Court of India, constituted with effect from September 4, 2004 to investigate and get to the truth of burning of 5-6 coach of Sabarmati Express at Godhra on February 27, 2002, which triggered a large scale communal violence.
Shri Sanjiv Garg, a Joint Secretary level official of Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) has been appointed as Secretary of the Committee.
Headquartered at New Delhi, the committee is to submit its findings in three months. The Mechanical Engineering Expert Shri K. Balakesri will operate from Chennai as his headquarters.
