Dr. Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, Minister of Rural Development, has released special allocation of Rs. 151.40 crores for implementation of Rural Roads Construction Project under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) to the Government of Rajasthan. This release has been made against the First Instalment of Phase-IV (2004-05) project cleared by the Ministry of Rural Development.

The Government of India has released a sum of Rs. 851 crores to the Government of Rajasthan so far under PMGSY. Smt. Vasundhara Raje, Chief Minister, Rajasthan had called on the Minister of Rural Development recently and placed the demand of the State particularly as the actual net liabilities has been accrued on account of implementation of sanctioned projects. The Minister of Rural Development has reviewed the performance of the various Programmes and assured the State Governments that there shall not be any shortage of funds in implementation of the rural road project.

The Minister has identified the States where the performance has been an area of concern and the Ministry has taken appropriate measures to see that in all the States, the implementation of the project is as per the requirement of the situation. The Ministry is making all its efforts to see that the funds meant for a particular State are invested within the State so as to have balanced development of the region.
