Consequent to the allegations made by Major Surinder Singh in the `fake killings case’ and recording of Summary of Evidence which started at Jodhpur on 27 May 04, evidence has established prima-facie culpability of Major Surinder Singh on some of the charges, which warrants trial by Court Martial .
Accordingly, the competent authority has convened a General Court Martial (GCM) to try Major Surinder Singh. Major Surinder Singh has been served notice and all relevant documents have been handed over to him for the GCM proceedings to start at Jodhpur at 1000 hours on 21 Sep. The GCM will be presided over by a Brigadier with six Colonels as members.
Suitable action will be initiated separately against other individual(s) subject to the Army Act in the ibid case after finalisation of GCM proceedings of Major Surinder Singh.
As per directions of the COAS, transparency and speedy justice will be ensured.
