bpcl pays 115% final dividend

Bharat Petroleum Corporation LTD. (BPCL), a PSU under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas paid here today the final dividend of Rs. 228.39 crore to the Government of India for the year 2003-04 at the rate of 115%. The cheque of final dividend was handed over to the Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Shri Mani Shankar Aiyar, by Shri Sarthak Behuria, Chairman & Managing Director, BPCL.

For the year 2003-04 BPCL had declared a total dividend of 175%, including an interim dividend of 60%. The Government of India holds 66.20% of BPCL's total equity of Rs. 300 crore.

During the year ended 31st March 2004, Net Profit of the Company stood at Rs. 1,694.57 crore as compared to Rs. 1,250.03 crore during the corresponding period in the previous year. The Sales Turnover increased to Rs. 53,448.36 crore from Rs. 48,502.35 crore during the same period. Market sales during the year ended 31st March 2004 stands at 20.37 MMT, up 2.57% from 19.86 MMT achieved during the corresponding period in the previous year. Earning per share for the year ended 31st March 2004, works out to Rs. 56.49 as compared to Rs. 41.67 in the corresponding period in the previous year.
