Brigadier VK Bhutani has assumed the appointment of the Colonel Commandant of the Intelligence Corps. Commissioned into the Fifth Battalion, The Jammu and Kashmir Rifles on 06 Sep 1970, Brigadier Bhutani participated in the 1971 Indo – Pak War in the Samba Sector. A graduate from the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington and an alumnus of National Defence College, New Delhi, he has held several important intelligence related assignments at Army Headquarters, New Delhi. He has also served with distinction in insurgency and terrorist affected areas of North East and J&K.
A recipient of the Chief of Army Staff’s Commendation Card, Brigadier Bhutani was awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal in Jan 2004 in recognition of his exceptional services. Assuming the post of ‘Colonel Commandant’, the Brigadier has the onerous responsibilities towards Military Intelligence fraternity. Apart from his professional proficiency, Brig Bhutani is a keen sportsman and a voracious reader.
