allocation for railway passenger amenities

Indian Raiwlays have alllocated a sum of Rs. 215.05 crores for improving passenger amenities in the current fiscal year 2004-2005 compared to Rs. 205 crores in 2003-2004.

Passenger amenities provide for upgradation, renovation and modernization of more than 8000 railway stations in the form of adequate provision of waiting rooms, supply of water, lavatories, circulating areas and other related user friendly facilities.

The allocation under passenger amenities has gone up substantially from Rs. 130 crores in 1999-2000.
