Public sector National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) of the Department of Mines has got excellent MoU rating for its outstanding performance in 2003-04. The company has been getting excellent rating since 1995-96 except the year 1998-99 and during 2003-04, it has got this distinction for the eighth time. The Mines Secretary, Shri C.D. Arha, has appreciated the company's consecutive achievements.
During 2003-04, it produced 2.98 lakh tonnes of aluminium crossing the target of 2.90 lakh tonnes and 15.60 lakh tonnes of alumina against a target of 15.70 lakh tonnes. It also produced 48.16 lakh tonnes of bauxite against a target of 47.1 lakh tonnes. The plant earned a net profit of Rs.725 crore against a target of Rs.362.6 crore. The sales turnover also crossed the target of Rs.2,969.85 crore and reached Rs.3,348 crore.
The Company got the excellent rating in 2002-03 producing 47.77 lakh tonnes of bauxite, 14.8 lakh tonnes of alumina and 2.44 lakh tonnes of aluminium. It achieved a sales turnover of Rs.2,739.67 crore and earned a net profit of Rs.520.92 crore.
