The 39th Central Geological Programming Board meeting of the Geological Survey of India (GSI) will be held tomorrow here at Vigyan Bhavan to chalk out the annual programme for survey and exploration activities. The Mines Secretary, Shri C.D. Arha will chair the meet. Besides GSI, public sector undertakings, concerned State and Central Government departments, Planning Commission and representatives from private sector will participate in the meeting.
The meeting attains importance in view of the enhanced powers given to the state governments with regard to the exploration work. The prime object of the meeting is to review the geo-scientific and mineral exploration activities in the country in the light of economic reforms and liberalizations in the mineral and mining sectors. It would discuss and approve the programme of GSI for the Field Season 2004-05 commencing from October 1, 2004.
