The Government has decided to extend the tenure for another three months beyond 04.09.2005 of the High level Committee under the Chairmanship of Justice U.C.Banerjee, Judge (Retd), Supreme Court of India to inquire into the incident of fire in Train No. 9166 Sabarmati Express at Godhra Station on 27.02.2002. The Committee was first constituted vide Ministry of Railways’ notification dated 04.09.2004 with effect from 05.09.2004. The extended tenure of the Committee will be up to 4.12.2005.
