The Union Minister of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, Thiru T. R. Baalu has approved road improvement works on National Highway sections in the State of Tamil Nadu at a total cost of Rs. 325.65 lakh.
Approval has been granted for Improvement of Riding Quality from Km.37/000 to 48/000 of NH-210 (Trichy-Ramanathapuram Road stretch) at a total cost of Rs.245.26 lakh in the State. It was reported that the stretch is badly damaged at several places and has started developing undulations, potholes and patches on the pavement surface. This road connects the important district headquarters, marketing places and leads to the renowned pilgrim centre of Rameshwaram.
Approval has also been granted for reconstruction of Culverts in NH-208 (Rajapalayam-Srivilliputhur stretch) from 158/0 to 213/0 kms at a total cost of Rs. 80.39 lakh. It was reported that the existing culverts are non standard and in damaged condition.
