The Tamil Nadu Express train No.2621 (Chennai to New Delhi), which was stranded between Vijayawada and Kazipet section of Andhra Pradesh region, is now on run to New Delhi via Vijaywads, Guntur, Papatapalli, Kazipet and Ballarshah. General Manager, Southern Central Railways with a team of senior officials rushed to Dornakal yesterday to make an on the spot assessment of the track damages and to see whether necessary arrangements were being made to ensure comfort of the stranded passengers. The train, which had reached Dornakal had to be regulated there from 07.00 hrs yesterday and 08.30 hrs today due to water logging of tracks beyond Dornakal and short of it. Approximately 1500 passengers who were on board the train were looked after by the station and train staff by way of provision of sufficient food, drinking water, milk power and other refreshments, which were arranged to maintain the essential services and comfort of the passengers.

Due to heavy rains and cyclonic storms in East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna, Khammam, Warangal Districts of Andhra Pradesh on the night of 19.09.05, there have been disruption of Railway Traffic owing to breaches, water logging of tracks and damage to some bridges in the Grand Trunk route between Vijaywada and Kazipet and the East Coast line between Vijayadwada and Vishakhapatnam.

The trains connecting southern parts to northern and eastern parts of the country through Vijaywad, Kazipet and Ballarshah as well as the traffic moving from Secunderabad area to Vijaywada via Kazipet route had been disrupted since yesterday morning. Railways took necessary measures to divert long distance trains by alternative routes, short terminated some and cancelled others which had not commenced their journey.

On the coastal route, the train services, which were affected between Vijayawada and Waltair from 20.00 Hrs of 20.09.2005 and 09.00 Hrs of 21.09.05 are being restored as both lines were made operational at 10.25 hrs today. Action has also been taken to maintain essential connectivity between Northern and Southern Indian by running one important trains.
