Special Anti-Corruption drive by CBI yields assets worth Rs.26.17 crore.

CBI has recovered movable and immovable assets worth Rs.26.17 crore including cash of Rs.1.95 crore during its fourth Special Anti-Corruption Drive on last Friday. During the special raids, CBI has registered 59 cases. The last case was registgered in the Anti Corruption Branch of Mumbai after obtaining the permission of the Government. This case has been registered against an officer of the level of Joint Secretary working with the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. During its drive, cases were registered against 76 public servants and 56 private persons and searches conducted in as many 215 places in the country.

The important highlights of the searches where substantial assets have been detected are:-

Investigation in DA case against Commissioner of Income Tax Appellate Tribunal, Mumbai has revealed assets to the tune of Rs. 3.66 crore so far. This includes 18 plots of land and a palatial house in Jaipur which is roughly estimated to value about Rs. 1 crore. Huge recovery of cash amounting of Rs. 69.02 lacs was also effected during searches. This includes recovery of 8.50 lacs from Mumbai residence, Rs. 14.85 lacs from Jaipur residence and Rs. 45.67 lacs from bank lockers.

Investigation of the DA case against Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals), Berhampur Orissa has revealed assets worth over Rs. 89 lacs so far. Besides, 80 lacs has also been recovered from residence of suspected conduit in Mumbai.

Investigation of the DA case against Superintendent, Central Excise, Chennai has so far revealed assets to the tune of Rs. 1.01 crores. This includes recovery of cash of Rs. 2.13 lacs from his residence and bank lockers, Rs. 10 lacs in various bank accounts and investments worth Rs. Rs. 41 lacs in various bonds and shares. 89 sovereigns of gold have also been recovered.

Investigation of the DA case against Director of National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language has so far revealed assets of to the tune of Rs. 2.2 crores. This includes recovery of Rs. 1.1 lacs from the house search and bank balance of Rs. 37 lacs in various banks. It has also been found that investment to the tune of Rs. 1.2 crores has been made by the public servant in a private school in Faridabad.

Investigation of the DA case against Superintendent, Central Excise (Anti Evasion) Faridabad has revealed assets amounting to Rs. 2.50 crore so far. This includes cash of Rs. 10.4 lac recovered in searches. Several immovable properties, a bus and a fleet of 6 cars have also been detected.

Investigation of the DA case against Assistant Sanitary Inspector, MCD, Delhi has revealed assets of to the tune of Rs. 66.54 lac so far which includes cash of Rs. 2.90 lac recovered during the house search.

Investigation of the DA case against Medical Superintendent, Jealgora Regional Hospital, BCCL, Dhanbad has revealed assets of to the tune of Rs. 1.18 crore which includes cash of Rs. 3 lac recovered during the house search.

Investigation of the DA case against Director, National Institute of Homeopathy, Kolkata has revealed moveable/immovable assets worth Rs. 39 lacs so far.
