The Vice President, Shri Bhairon Singh Shekhawat has underlined the need for preserving literature written in various Indian dialects in different parts of the country. Releasing a 4-volume compilation of the works of the 16th century Rajasthani poet, Issardas here today the Vice President said that the students of literature should also be encouraged to study the literature in these dialects as well. This will enrich their knowledge as these dialects truly represent the diversity of Indian thought and culture.
The Vice President said that Issardas was a poet of the `Charan tradition and composed highly sensitive poems in `Veer-ras and `Bhakti-ras in the `Dingal dialect of Rajasthan. The Dingal has a thousand year old literary tradition encompassing various great poets of Rajasthan.
Shri Shekhawat lauded the efforts of the Dingal Research Institute and its patron former Union Minister, Shri Jaswant Singh in preserving the rich traditional literature of our country, particularly that of Rajasthan.
