The President, Dr. A.P. J. Abdul Kalam, has mourned the loss of lives and damage to property in Jammu and Kashmir due to the earthquake on October 8, 2005.
In a condolence message to the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Mufti Mohammed Sayeed, the President has also said that he can understand the difficulties faced by the people and the administration in these circumstances and that he is sure that the State Government is making all efforts to provide relief to the families of those who have lost their lives in this tragedy and various agencies are putting in their best efforts in the rescue and relief of the injured.
