A high level conference of the representatives from various states / Union Territories, Army, Navy, Air Force and Deputy Director Generals of NCC was held here today under the Chairmanship of Minister of State for Defence Shri BK Handique. The conference deliberated on various issues such as development of more infrastructure for NCC, need to revise allowances for Associate NCC Officers, filling up of vacant posts and provision for adequate manpower requirement, purchase of state-of-the-art Weapons and training equipment, construction of NCC Nagars with facilities for training of cadets in each state, need to provide better incentives for NCC cadets, proposal for increasing the cadet strength and adequate fund allocation by state Government for NCC activities.
The overall conduct and control of NCC activities involves multiplicity of responsibilities between the Centre and the States. The present conference is aimed at coordinating the responsibilities, activities and procedure between the Centre and the State Governments towards better and effective functioning of NCC.
The Conference was also attended by Defence Secretary Shri Shekhar Dutt, Secretary of Education from various states and Union Territories and other senior officials.
