Lt Gen S Pattabhiraman was presented a Guard of Honour on taking over the Vice Chief of Army Staff here today. Easher he laid a wreath at the Amar Jawan Jyoti.
Commissioed into the Corps of Engineers in December 1966, Lt Gen Srinisava Pattabhiraman, Ati Vishisht Seva Madal, Sena Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal has had the distinction of commanding his regiment (of Victoria Cross Fame) as well as the Parachute Field Company. The General Officer was awarded the Sena medal while in command of his Regimentin Arunachal Pradesh in 1990. He was awarded Vishisht Seva Medal while he was The Brigade Commander in an active Counter Insurgency area in Rajouri Sector of Jammu and Kashmir in the year 1998 – 2000. The General Officer held multifarious appointments before commanding an Infantry Division, which was part of a Strike Corps in June 2000. His appointments include Instructor Class ‘B’ at Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, Instructor Class ‘A’ at Army War College (Senior Command Wing! /Faculty of Studies), General Staff Officer – Grade 1 in Military Operations Directorate and Defence Attache in Embassy of India, Ankara (Turkey). The General Officer has performed the duties of Additional Director General in Military Operations Directorate where he was awarded the prestigious and coveted ‘Ati Vishist Seva Medal’ for his contributions to the Organization. The General Officer commanded the farmous VAJRA Corps from May 2003 to May 2004 and was the first Director General Information Systems at Army Headquarters from May 2004 to January 2005. Immediately prior to his assuming the appointment as VCOAS on 01 Oct 2005, he was The Western Army Commander. He is also Colonel Commandant of The Bombay Sappers.
His wife, Mrs Lakshmi Raman is a graduate in History (Honours). A varacious reader, she has been taking keen interst in the welfare activities of families of all ranks through AWWA.
