The total production of Lignite during August 2005 by the Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited (NLC), a public sector unit of the Ministry of Coal, has been estimated at 18.83 lakh tonnes which is 10.76 per cent more than the target of 17.00 lakh tonnes. NLC produced 20.22 lakh tonnes during the same month last year. The company during the month generated 1392.51 million units of power, 6.97 per cent more than the target of 1304 million units. It produced 1479.54 million units in August last year. It exported 1174.08 million units during the month, which is 8.01 per cent more than the target of 1087 million units.
