South African Kingdom Lesotho desires bilateral co-operation with India to explore its mineral resources. The Kingdom has resources of diamonds but there was a need for exploration and exploitation of these resources, said Lesotho Foreign Affairs Minister, Mr. Monyane Moleleki who called on the Mines Minister, Shri Sis Ram Ola, here today. He wanted India's assistance in diamond mining and processing.
Shri Ola said, Geological Survey of India (GSI) under his ministry, has long standing experience in survey and mapping for more than 150 years and public sector Mineral Exploration Corporation Limited (MECL) takes up detailed exploration works. The Indian Bureau of Mines has the expertise to train personnel in evaluation of mineral reserves and mineral processing. The modalities of co-operation between two countries will be discussed further to explore the possibilities of concrete framework. Shri Ola assured full cooperation to the Government of Lesotho and said his Ministry would extend all help when a concrete proposal is received.
