Shri P.R. Kyndiah, Union Minister for Tribal Affairs and Development of North Eastern Region (DONER) will arrive in Tura, the District Headquarters of Garo Hills in Meghalaya on October 06, 2005. During his stay, he will interact with the members of Garo Students’ Union (GSU), NGOs and other local leaders.
The Minister has already conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families soon after the loss of nine precious lives when the police resorted to firing on a rally on September 30, 2005. The rally was taken out by members of GSU to register their protest against revamping of the Meghalaya Board of Secondary Education (MBOSE), headquartered at Tura.
