The Chief Minister of Kerala Shri Oommen Chandy called on the the Union Minister of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, Thiru T. R. Baalu here today to discuss several issues concerning the Inland Waterways and Road sector in the State.
On the Chief Minister’s request to extend the National Waterways III in the State, Thiru Baalu urged Shri Chandy to take immediate steps for making the existing National Waterway fully operational at the earliest to enable the Ministry to consider the proposal of extension. The Chief Minister assured that the State would take necessary steps in this regard expeditiously.
The Minister also impressed upon the Chief Minister to convene a meeting of concerned State Government Officials with the Union Shipping Ministry’s officials for expeditious resolution of the pending issues concerning the National Waterways III.
Apart from this, the Kerala CM also discussed issues concerning Road sector in the State with special reference to the technical aspects of implementation of fitment of speed governors in various categories of transport vehicles in the State.
