The President has appointed Justice Altamas Kabir, Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court and Justice Raja Varadarajulu Raveendran, Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court as Judges of the Supreme Court of India, in that order of seniority, with effect from the dates they assume charge of their respective offices.

Justice Altamas Kabir, M.A., LL.B was born on July 19, 1948. He was enrolled as an Advocate in 1973 and practiced in the District Court and the Kolkata High Court in Civil and Criminal sides. He was appointed as a permanent Judge in the Kolkata High Court on August 6, 1990. He was appointed as Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court on March 1, 2005.
