juries to select films for the indian panorama constituted

The juries for the selection of feature films and non-feature films for the Indian Panorama at International Film Festival of India (IFFI) - 2005 have been constituted. The feature jury has 82 entries, while the non-features jury has 150 entries to select from. While the jury for feature films has already started working, the non-feature jury begins its assignment on 30th September, 2005. The films selected are first screened at IFFI and then sent to international film festivals abroad in the next one year. The Indian Panorama is the prestigious showcase of Indian cinema in both the feature film and the non-feature film category.

Veteran filmmaker Shri M. S. Sathyu, a well-known name in Hindi and Kannada cinema, heads the feature film jury. The other members of the jury are Smt. Roja Ramani, renowned Actress of Tamil and Telugu cinema, winner of two National Awards, noted Film Director Shri Biplab Roychoudhury, Film Director from Kolkata, Dr. R. K. Verma, Film Historian and Academician, Shri C. P. Padmakumar, noted Film Director from Kerala and Smt. Shalini Shah. National award winner filmmaker from Mumbai.

Shri Aribam Syam Sarma, another distinguished filmmaker from Manipur heads the jury for selection of non-feature films. The other members on the jury are Shri Arun Chaddha, Film Director, Shri Sanjivan Lal, Film Director, Shri M. A. Rehman, Film Director and Shri M. K. Raja Narayan, film critic.

The two juries are expected to complete their assignments by 10th October, 2005 and submit their reports to the Government.

The jury for feature films will also recommend two feature films that would represent India in the competition section of IFFI known as the Asian, African and Latin American Competition. The film Page 3 directed by Madhur Bhandarkar finds automatic entry in Indian Panorama being the winner of Swarna Kamal for the year 2004, National Film Awards.

The 36th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is being organized in the Seaside State of Goa from the 24th November to the 4th December, 2005.
