The total loading during the cumulative period upto August 2005 were more than the target by 5.62 million tonnes. During the month, the loading was more than the target on Eastern, East Coast, North Frontier, South Central, South Eastern, South Western and Western Railways.
The total number of passengers booked during the month of August 2005 as well as during cumulative period upto August 2005 has increased by 5% and 7.11% respectively as compared to same period last year. The total number of passengers booked during the month increased on all Railways except Central and Western Central Railways when compared to the same period last year. During the month as well as during cumulative period upto August 2005 the total earnings were more than the Budget Proportions (BP) by Rs. 27.01 crores and 767.52 crores respectively.
The number of accidents during month of August 2005 were less when compared to same period last year. During the month there were no accidents on North Central, North Western, South Eastern, western and West Central Railways and number of accidents were less on Central, Northern, North Eastern and South central Railways.
The punctuality of Mail/Express trains (Broad Gauge) during August 2005 has show improvement on all Railways except Eastern and Southern Railways when compared to this period last year.
During the month as well as during cumulative period upto August 2005, the Integral Coach Factory, Railway Coach Factory and Rail Wheel Factory exceeded the targeted production of coaches and wheel & axles respectively. Chittranjan Locomotive Works attained the targeted production and Diesel Locomotive Work exceeded the targeted production in locos during the month.
