The total approximate earnings on originating basis of Indian Railways for first ten days of September, 2005 were Rs. 1404.10 crores compared to Rs. 1197.57 crores during this period last year registering an increase of 17.25%.
The total number of passengers booked during this period were 158.26 millions compared to 155.32 millions during the same period last year showing an increase of 1.89%. In the suburban, the total number of passengers booked during this period were 88.98 millions and in non-suburban were 69.28 millions compared to 89.94 millions and 65.38 millions respectively during this period last year.
The total passenger revenue earnings on originating basis during Ist to 10th September, 2005 were Rs.446.79 crores with an increase of 13.63% over Rs. 393.21 crores earnings during this period last year. The total passenger earnings were 4.31% more than the Budget target of Rs. 428.33 crores for the same period.
The total goods earnings of Rs. 916.75 crores have shown an increase of 19.85% during this period over Rs. 764.92 crores of corresponding period last year with an increase of 19.85%.
There is also an increase of 3.09% in revenue earnings from other coaching during the first ten days of September 2005 with earnings of Rs. 28.65 crores compared to Rs. 27.79 crores during the this period last year.
