India’s potential in the food processing sector has been recognized at the World Food Fair – Anuga - at Cologne, Germany. The biennial event was held from October 8-12, 2005. The fair, jointly inaugurated by the Minister of Food Processing Industries, Shri Subodh Kant Sahai and his German counterpart, Mr. Wolfgang Clement, was a grand success. The fair was attended by 108 countries. Altogether 49 Indian companies participated. The Indian pavilion was set up prominently to attract all visitors. Four Members of Parliament – S/Shri Harish Rawat, Sharad Anantrao Joshi, Dushyant Singh and Smt. Rupatai Diliprao Nilangekar Patil accompanied Shri Sahai. In a chat with journalists here today, the Minister said he discussed foreign direct investment and the possibilities of setting up joint ventures in the food processing sector in India. He said a world food conference will be held in Mumbai next month. It will be followed by a three-day global conference in New Delhi later in November this year. More than 40 countries have confirmed their participation in it, said Shri Sahai.
