india and armenia sign mou on parliamentary cooperation

India and Armenia today signed an MOU on Parliamentary Cooperation with Armenia reiterating its unflinching support to India’s candidature for permanent seat in the UN Security Council.

The MOU aimed at promoting and intensifying cooperation between Indian Parliament and Armenian National Assembly was signed at Yerewan by Shri Vijay Kumar, Secretary (Coordination) in the Ministry of External Affairs and the Secretary General of the Armenian National Assembly, Mr. Hayk Kotanyan. The Vice President of India, Shri Bhairon Singh Shekhawat and Mr. Andranik Margarian, Prime Minister of Armenia were present on this occasion.

Armenia has also extended full support for fighting terrorism and has echoed Vice-President, Shri Bhairon Singh Shekhawat’s sentiments that “all nations of the world including India and Armenia should work together to root out the scourge of terrorism.”

Both countries also signed a Protocol of Exchange of Instruments of Ratification of the Treaty between India and Armenia on Friendship and Cooperation in pursuance to the Treaty of friendship and cooperation signed by first Armenian President, Mr. Levon Ter-Petrosyan in New Delhi in 1995.
