Union Minister of Steel, Chemicals and Fertilizers Shri Ram Vilas Paswan, has said that a system of devising import data on steel would be made available on line very soon so that effective measures could be taken if the need arises in order to avoid any injury to the domestic steel industry.
Presiding over the Consultative Committee Meeting of Ministry of Steel on the performance and future of Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Limited, (KIOCL) at Bangalore, the Minister said that the trend of increasing production of steel continued in all categories during the period April-August, 2005. Not only this, the consumption of steel has also gone up from 12.78 million to 13.6 million tones showing an increase of about 6.4 per cent, he added.
On this occasion, Shri P.Ganeshan, Chairman and Managing Director of KIOCL highlighted various future long and short plans of the Company.
The Consultative Committee meeting was attended by Smt. K.Rani, S/shri Ashok Kumar Rawat, Ganesh Prasad Singh, Chaudhary Munawar Hassan and Chandrakant Bhaurao Khaire from Lok Sabha and from Rajyha Sabha, Shri Mool Chand Meena and Dr.Mahendra Prasad attended the meeting.
