home minister’s five-day visit to china begins tomorrow

The Home Minister, Shri Shivraj Patil begins his five-day visit to China tomorrow. He will be accompanied by a delegation which includes the Home Secretary, Shri V.K.Duggal and 5 other officials. Shri Patil will hold official talks with the Chinese State Councillor and Minister for Public Security, Shri Zhou Yongkang in Beijing. A Memorandum of Understanding for co-operation between the Ministry of Home Affairs, Republic of India and the Ministry of Public Security, People’s Republic of China will be signed . Shri Zhou Yongkang will host a banquet in honour of Shri Patil. The Home Minister will meet the Chinese Premier. During his stay in Beijing, he will also unveil a statue of Mahatma Gandhi. Shri Patil’s engagements in Shanghai include a meeting with the Mayor of Shanghai, Shri Han Zheng and a visit to the Shanghai Emergency Response Centre.

The Home Minister’s 5-day visit is part of the ongoing high-level exchanges between India and China.
