Lt Gen MG Girish, Director General Discipline Ceremonial & Welfare of Army HQ felicitated a group of senior citizens from Kargil, here today.
Senior citizen are on an excursion to Srinagar, Jammu, Delhi, Lucknow, Agra, Jaipur, Ajmer and Amritsar with effect from 12 sep 05 to 30 Sep 05. The tour aims to expose the senior citizens, both male and female, hailing from remote areas of Padam – Suru Valley, Dras, Kargil and Batalik to the grandeur, cultural heritage and the secular nature of the country. The tour consists of 29 senior citizens including six ladies.
The tour was flagged off from Kargil on 12 Sep 05 by Maj Gen VK Ahluwalia,. The contingent shall be meeting various VVIPs and dignitaries and also be visiting places of religious significance and cultural values at various cities of North India.
The tour contingent was warmly received in Delhi by Col Amardeep Narayan, Officiating Commandant RAJ RIF Centre and provided with all help to make this adventurous trip a great success. Befor arriving in Delhi the group was at Jaipur.
While at Jaipur, the group was given a warm welcome by His Highness Brig (Retd) Bhawani Singh, Maharaja Jaipur and Mr Gajender Singh, Minister of State for Power and Energy Rajasthan..
