The Ministry of Tourism has issued guidelines to preserve, retain and enrich natural resources and to ensure regulated growth of eco-tourism. The states have been requested that tourism should be promoted in such a way that it has positive impact on environmental protection and community development. A number of destinations have been identified in States with consultation of State Governments to develop as eco-tourism destinations. Following are the projects prioritized in Northern Himalayan for the year 2005-06:
